Book Awards IV Challenge (January – October, 2010)

Book Awards IV runs from January 1 through November 1, 2010.  For this challenge I’ll be reading 10 books from 10 different awards.  I’ve participated in all three previous challenges and really enjoy it.  I don’t find it at all difficult to read prize winners, but it will be a challenge to read 10 different awards.  I’ll certainly read some old favorites (Booker, Orange, Pulitzer) but will also seek out several new-to-me awards.

My list:

  1. Morte d’Urban, by J.F. Powers (National Book Award) (review)
  2. Haweswater, by Sarah Hall (Commonwealth Prize) (review)
  3. Without My Cloak, by Kate O’Brien (James Tait Black Prize) (review)
  4. The Ghost Road, by Pat Barker (Booker Prize) (review)
  5. Runaway, by Alice Munro (Giller Prize) (review)
  6. Tinkers, by Paul Harding (Pulitzer Prize) (review)
  7. The Lacuna, by Barbara Kingsolver (Orange Prize) (review)
  8. Tirra Lirra by the River, by Jessica Anderson (Miles Franklin Prize) (review)
  9. Postcards, by Annie Proulx (PEN/Faulkner Prize) (review)
  10. Adam’s Breed, by Radclyffe Hall (Prix Femina Vie Heureuse Anglais) (review)
