Teaser Tuesday: Edith Wharton’s The Reef

TEASER TUESDAYS is hosted by MizB at Should be Reading. The idea is to share a couple of “teaser” sentences from a random page in your current read. This week I’m reading Edith Wharton’s The Reef, a story of a young widow who meets up with her first love.  Set in Paris and the French countryside, it’s quite evocative and makes me want to get away from the bitter cold Mid-Atlantic US winter!  Here’s my teaser:

She started up and waved her sunshade, but he did not see her. No doubt he meant to go back with the gamekeeper, perhaps to the kennels, to see a retriever who had hurt his leg. Suddenly she was seized by the whim to overtake him.  She threw down the parasol, thrust her letter into her bodice, and catching up her skirts began to run.

  1. This is the second Wharton I have seen today. This one sounds good. It’s even cold in FL today, it was 38 degrees here this morning.

    Here is my teaser

Have a great week and happy reading.
