TEASER TUESDAYS is hosted by MizB at Should be Reading. The idea is to share a couple of “teaser” sentences from a random page in your current read. Last night I finished The Night Watch, by Sarah Waters. Set in 1940s London, it weaves together the stories of four different people as well as their friends and “significant others,” as they make their way through the end of World War II. One of the characters makes ambulance runs during bomb raids; she is at the center of my teaser today:
Their lashes had grit in them: they paid attention to that, because sometimes the grit contained little pieces of glass. They took it in turns to examine each other in the light: ‘Look up … Look down … Lovely!’
