Midweek @ Musings: Random Links that Make me Smile

I’m still completely absorbed in Testament of Youth, and while it’s incredibly powerful, it’s also made me rather somber and contemplative.  It’s also inspired a blog post, but one that’s not fully formed in my mind and heart just yet — perhaps closer to Remembrance Day.

As an antidote to my somber mood, I’ve been scouring my Google Reader and my friends’ Facebook pages for links that make me smile.  Here are just a few — I hope some of these make you smile, too!

Some academic claimed Jane Austen’s style might not be hers, which made me sad until The Guardian debunked it.

This amusing flowchart will help you describe the web in the style of Charles Dickens.

Jill at The Magic Lasso has moved her blog to WordPress, which made me happy, but I was even happier when she posted 10 Talking Animal Videos That Make Animal Lovers Howl on my Wall.

I was a science geek in school, but Physics completely baffled me.  Until I watched the Physics of Wet Dogs Shake Out in High-Speed Videos.  Anything with a wet dog makes me smile.  And why couldn’t we do projects like that when I was in school?

And finally … Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows opens November 19 !!!

Have a great week everyone …

  1. The Dickens Web graph was fabulous – thanks for sharing! I wonder what Oliver would think of Facebook?

And double thanks on my blog plug! Hope you enjoyed the animal videos.

    Best,
    Jill

  2. LOL re: the wet dogs shaking. I showed it to Kip and he didn’t know I got the link from you. Half way through it, he said “Wow, this is cool. You know who would love this? Laura!” I’m not kidding! I guess he really knows you LOL 🙂
